I’m Bexx Henderson, a UK-based health and psychology coach. I live in York with my husband, and our adorable King Charles Cav, Chester. He’s awesome. If cute dog photos are your thing, you should totally follow me on Instagram immediately!

Anyway. Where was I?!

As a coach, I help women ditch the endless rules, and make simple-but-powerful changes to get happier and healthier. To do this, I use tried and tested principles to promote healthy living in the real world.

But what does that mean?

When you decide to ditch the rules, and live your own happy and healthy life, you:

  • Say no to diets that suck the fun out of life.
  • Pay attention to the bigger picture – not just the food (e.g. sleep, psychology and relationships).
  • Tackle the limiting beliefs and other mindsets that keep you stuck.
  • Learn how to set goals that actually make you feel good.
  • Make healthy choices because you want to, not because you feel you should.
  • Create your own rules that fit with your lifestyle. Instead of trying to shoehorn in someone else’s approach.

What are my qualifications?

As a health coach, I’m certified by the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. Here, I learned from some of the industry’s leading researchers, doctors, and nutrition experts pioneering the health and wellness movement.

I also have a first class honours degree in Psychology, and my research (on self-esteem, thought processes and their link to depression) has been published in the Journal of Motivation and Emotion.

Why is this important to me?

I struggled with food – and my health – for a long, long time. In particular, here are a few of the major health-related challenges I’ve faced over the years:

  • Emotional eating and binge eating.
  • Obsession with weight loss (which, once I’d lost the weight, quickly turned into a fear of weight gain).
  • A fixation with clean eating, food rules and “being healthy” – to the point where it made me downright miserable.
  • Problems with my mental health – using food as a distraction from the deeper issues I needed to work on.

I finally said goodbye to dieting when I realised how unhappy, stressed and hangry it was making me. I didn’t enjoy food anymore. Meals out with friends felt like a disaster waiting to happen, and I’d feel horrendously guilty if I even sniffed a cupcake. When you can’t even enjoy the occasional slice of cake, you know you’ve got a problem – right?!

I’m happy to tell you I’m in a much better place now. It took a while to get here – but I’ve learned a hell of a lot on the way. I now use a unique combination of my own experience, health coach training, and Psychology background to help women do the same.

If you can relate to anything I’ve mentioned above, you’re in the right place.

I’ve put together this page to help you find the best content on my website, so you can start making those all-important changes right away.

A note to brands and PR agencies:

When I started coaching, I decided I wanted the blog to be a place for me to share my authentic message with the women I work with. For this reason, I don’t provide any advertising or sponsored content opportunities at this time.

I do occasionally work with health and fitness brands looking for freelance writers – so feel free to get in touch if that’s what you’re looking for. However, please be aware this doesn’t include any sponsored content on my website.

If you see any brands featured in my blog posts, it’s because I genuinely love their products – not because I’m being paid to feature them.
